APPLICATION
• Stir thoroughly with a flat paddle before use.
• On very porous / absorbent surfaces, the first coat may be diluted with 10% clean water.
• Apply a minimum of 2 coats to achieve full cover and an even finish. In some cases, 3 coats may be necessary. For general maintenance, only 1 undiluted coat is required.
• Clean up with water.
PRECAUTIONS
• Do not apply when roof is extremely hot (i.e. at noon on a hot day).
• Do not paint in wet weather or when temperature is below 8°C.
• Do not apply to unprimed metal surfaces.
• When using chemical treatments, take care as they kill any growth, including plants and grass. Avoid splashing and wear protective clothing and rubber gloves.
• Allow sufficient time for paint to dry before evening dew begins to settle.
SURFACE PREPARATION
The effectiveness of any coating system is dependent on the degree of preparation. All surfaces, whether old or new, must be thoroughly clean, dry and free from foreign contaminants such as dust, dirt, grease, rust and oil.
NEW SURFACES
Galvanised Iron - Clean surfaces thoroughly with Deco Galvanised Iron Cleaner to remove dust, grime and white rust. Rinse with clean water. Prime with Deco Water-based Galvanised Iron Primer and allow 4 hours to dry. Cement Surfaces / Roof Tiles - Apply 1st coat, diluted with 10% clean water. Apply 2nd and 3rd coats undiluted.
PREVIOUSLY PAINTED / WEATHERED SURFACES
• Loose, flaking paint must be removed completely.
• Roof surfaces showing even the slightest signs of flaking paint must be stripped entirely.
• Remove loose surface rust entirely off weathered metal roof surfaces. Wash thoroughly with Dekade Rust Remover. Rinse well with clean water and allow to dry. Prime with 2 coats of Dekade Rust and Metal Primer and allow 48 hours to dry.
• All chalky or powdery surfaces must be sanded thoroughly, and hosed down to a chalk-free surface.
• Roof surfaces must be free from algae, lichen and moss. Wash with Deco Biocidal Wash as per manufacturer’s instructions.
