Our Journey
Chapter One
Where it all began
Part 1 -
Hall’s Adhesives first opened its doors in 1989 by founders Barry and Jenny Hall, both with expertise in adhesives, and experience as entrepreneurs, their vision was to holistically add value to the sector. After using up all of their hard-earned capital, they applied for a vital interest-bearing loan in the year 1990. This is the loan that helped Hall’s Adhesives to become what it is today.

Part 2 -
1991 was welcomed with increased manufacturing capabilities to include household and industrial chemicals into the Hall’s product range, giving birth to Hall’s Adhesives & Chemicals. From this, quality, consistency, and fair pricing were key values that became synonymous with the Hall’s brand.

Chapter Two
Teaching the next generation
Part 1 –
Barry and Jenny were never insistent, but always offered the opportunity for their children to join the business. In 2000, Andrew Hall joined the team, followed shortly thereafter by Martin Hall in 2003. Together they began to add fresh perspectives to the business model and found their true interest in innovation, technology, marketing, business, and retail. Along with Martin’s arrival came the inclusion of epoxies (industrial and decorative coatings) to the now extensive product range.
Part 2 –
In 2006 the first attempt at creating a scalable brand was initiated. “It was a great learning curve but ultimately failed to tick the right boxes in terms of scalability,” said Martin Hall.
Part 3 –
Around 2010, all products labels and literature were redesigned; the aim was to grow brand awareness! Along with this, the 5L squat bottle and natural 20L bucket with triple lock gasketed lids were created. 2016 earmarked the establishment of the official brand, through many hours of hard work and deliberation, the vision of a ‘World class brand’ was in sight.
Chapter Three
Building a World Class Brand
The two brothers visualized developing a unique store differentiated by high quality products, fair pricing and great service. They set to work implementing the newly developed brand throughout their full product range, with a plan to challenge each and every status quo.
A decision was made to build a new property next door to the original store that had been their sole outlet for so many years. The retail store often referred to as a software store, “we are not a hardware store, our products are consumed on-site, in a factory, at work, or at home,” says Andrew Hall.
Their drive to create a brand that makes a difference to the people and the communities it serves had begun!
- 2019 The launch of #litterheroes initiative where each week, 12 previously unemployed black African woman and men were tasked to pick up litter, distribute rubbish bins, sort, recycle and dump waste.
- 2019 Dump Fire Donation.
- 2019 City Hall Clean-up initiative.
- 2019 Project Rhino involvement and the adoption of Ralston the hand-painted rhino figurine.

Chapter Four
What's on the go now?
The Hall’s Retail mission is now on course! We have launched our new online store, allowing customers across the country to access our full product range. Deliveries nationwide have made it possible for us to expand our brand’s footprint and to service many more customers outside of our local borders.
The announcement of the site for our next Brick-and-Mortar store, which promises to further improve customer experience, is in the pipeline.
“We want our customers to feel inspired when they leave our stores albeit Online or Offline” Martin Hall.
Our product range is growing still, and we wish to add more Open Innovation products designed by the people to our offering. The Open Innovation program enables ordinary individuals and companies the opportunity to create products with help of Hall’s Manufacturing to produce, package, and take the product to market. The innovator earns passive income as a royalty for as long as Hall’s continues to sell their product/s.
In response to our customer service requests we have launched Turnkey Projects! Allowing us to provide full turnkey project solutions to clients including specification requirements, product supply, project preparation, and guaranteed product application.
In 2021 we yet again took up the task of reinventing ourselves and moving our business closer to being the ‘World Class Brand’ we envision for it. Welcoming a fresh new look to the logo, a redesign to product labels, an instore and out-of-store branding revamp, and online marketing drive.
